Academic Dress
Faculty and staff are asked to wear the hood and gown to Convocation that represents their highest degree in the style of the awarding institution. If you are unable to obtain academic dress, a black gown with our Faculty Hood may be borrowed for the day of Convocation. For those who do not own their own academic dress but are Dalhousie graduates, academic dress can be borrowed.
Academic dress can be reserved through the Online Reservation Portal by May 1. Reservations can be picked up from the Convocation Hub (see below for location and hours) and must be returned before closing.
- Account creation on the portal is restricted to users with a @dal address
- There is no cost to borrow academic dress. Upon check-out, a discount will automatically apply.
There will be limited availability of academic dress on-site to accommodate those who missed the reservation deadline; thus, it is strongly encouraged to place an advance reservation.
