Accessibility

The Convocation Team and Dalhousie Arts Centre are committed to making the ceremonies and venue accessible to all.

We are here to assist graduates and guests requiring accommodations in order to attend and enjoy the ceremonies. Please contact convocation@dal.ca to discuss your needs.

Wheelchair Accessibility

There is a wheelchair accessible ramp to the front doors of the Dalhousie Arts Centre and automatic doors to assist in entering the building. Wheelchair accessible restrooms are also available at the venue and are located on the second and fourth floor.

There is a side entrance to the stage for graduates with limited mobility and wheelchair users. Space in the front row can be reserved for wheelchair users to sit with their graduating class by contacting convocation@dal.ca.

The Rebecca Cohn auditorium also has a number of wheelchair accessible spaces for guests.  To ensure a space is reserved for you, please contact convocation@dal.ca.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome in the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. Pets are not permitted within the building.

Assistive Listening System

The Dalhousie Arts Centre has listening aids available to enhance the enjoyment of the ceremonies for those with a hearing impairment. These are available free of change with a piece of identification for deposit.

Sign Language Interpreter

Sign language interpreting services are available to graduates and guests. Requests for services should be made at least two weeks in advance of the ceremony by contacting convocation@dal.ca.

Invisible Disabilities

If you require accessibility accommodations that differ from what is listed, please contact convocation@dal.ca so we can learn how to best support you.

Quiet Space

A quiet room is available on the fourth floor (room 401) of the Dalhousie Arts Centre for those feeling overwhelmed or overloaded by the sensory input of their surroundings.

Ushers can direct graduates and guests to the quiet space if needed.
