Impact Award Winners

Awarded to current residence students in positions of leadership who have best demonstrated an exceptional level of maturity and professionalism. They encourage and empower students to engage in student life, they lead by example, and they work to improve the life of the residence hall.  

Malena Ayala
Microbiology & Biochemistry (Arkansas, USA)

• Has served as a Community Assistant in residence for two years, consistently going above and beyond to support her peers. Her quick response during the LMP flood ensured resident safety, showcasing her ability to take initiative in challenging situations.
• Mentored new Community Assistants, fostering confidence and excellence in their team.
• Her creative programming builds a strong sense of belonging, encouraging residents to engage in meaningful experiences.
• Balancing leadership with academic excellence, she is pursuing a double major while gaining hands-on research experience. Her commitment extends beyond campus through volunteer work with Soul’s Harbour and the QEII Health Sciences Centre, reflecting her dedication to service. Malena is approachable and empathetic, and leads by example.

Aurthy Imam
Neuroscience (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

• As a Community Assistant, Summer Resident Assistant, and Community Safety Team Lead, she has fostered inclusive and engaging spaces while ensuring student well-being
• Her academic dedication is evident in her roles as a Neuroscience Honours student, Lab Prefect, and Tutor, supporting student success and accessibility.
• She has led initiatives with the Dalhousie Blood Society, NSPIRG, and Autism Nova Scotia, promoting equity and inclusion. Her involvement in STEM education, artistic communities, and advocacy work showcases her commitment to fostering connection and belonging.
• A Dean’s List student and Aramark Leadership Award recipient, Aurthy exemplifies excellence in leadership.

Awarded to a current member of a residence hall community who has made outstanding contributions to the life of their residence community, leads by example by encouraging and empowering residents to get involved, promotes respect, and creates opportunities for their peers. 

Shruti Chaturvedi
Computer Science (Lucknow, India)

• Has made a significant impact as a Community Safety Team member, ensuring a safe and inclusive residence environment at Dalhousie. Her ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy has made her a trusted figure among residents and staff.
• Actively fosters community, mentors new team members, and contributes to improving protocols and initiatives. Her strong communication skills and commitment to student well-being set her apart as a role model in Residence Life.
  
  

Hannah Lok
Kinesiology (Hong Kong)

• Has made a lasting impact as the Community Assistant at Glengary Apartments by being a caring and dedicated leader. Always approachable and kind, she actively supports residents while fostering a strong sense of community.
• Her talent for organizing engaging social events, from bracelet-making to community meetings and outings, brings people together in meaningful ways.
• A kinesiology major set to graduate this term, she aspires to continue her education with a master's degree and pursue a career as a language therapist. Her warmth, leadership, and commitment to others make Hannah a deserving recipient of this recognition.

This award recognizes an outstanding off-campus student leader who has demonstrated significant leadership, commitment, and service aimed at improving the community in which they live.

Zoya Hussain
Community Design (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Zoya is a passionate leader and advocate dedicated to community service, youth empowerment, sustainability education, and social justice. As Chair of the HRM Youth Advisory Committee, she has amplified youth voices in municipal decision-making, shaping policies on housing, mental health, and climate action.
• Her leadership as Dalhousie’s Site Coordinator for Let’s Talk Science has engaged over 130 volunteers in sustainability outreach, making climate education accessible and inspiring.
• As Vice President of GirlUp Dalhousie, shas has organized impactful events promoting gender equity.
• She also co-founded the Art Action Alliance, using creative workshops to educate communities on climate change. Her tireless commitment to advocacy, mentorship, and inclusive community building has earned them numerous awards, making them a truly deserving recipient of the Community Service Impact Award.

Awarded to a student society ratified with the Dalhousie Student Union that caters to the general or niche interests of students and has demonstrated consistency in planning and delivery or programming or events, high student participation and attendance of their membership, and sets an example for other student societies.  

The Dalhousie Solar Car Team

• The Dalhousie Solar Car Team (DalSol) has grown tremendously since its founding in 2022, evolving from a small group of engineering students into a multidisciplinary team of over 200 contributors.
• Provides hands-on learning experiences, equipping students with technical and business skills for real-world problem-solving. Beyond innovation, the team is dedicated to inspiring the next generation through outreach, hosting over 20 presentations and shop tours for students of all ages.
• Actively promotes the practicality of renewable energy, engaging the community through events like the Atlantic Solar Car Summit and the inaugural Solar Car Community Day. With perseverance and collaboration, DalSol continues to drive forward a vision of sustainability and innovation.

Awarded to a student society, club, or intramural league. The recipient must demonstrate consistency in planning and delivery of programming or events, high student participation and attendance of its membership, and set an example for other student societies.

Dalhousie Black and Gold Dance Team (BGDT)

• Blends athleticism, artistry, and community, enriching the university experience for its members. As one of the most successful university dance teams in the Maritimes, BGDT has remained undefeated for the past two years, training up to 15 hours per week and preparing over 40 routines for competition.
• Provides leadership opportunities through coaching, choreography, and event organization.
• Connects with the Halifax dance community through drop-in classes and its annual showcase, Synergy, which inspires young dancers.

Awarded to a Dalhousie intramural or sports club participant who demonstrates significant commitment to Dalhousie's intramural or sports club programs, exemplifies the role of intramurals and/or sports clubs in developing and promoting student engagement and fun on campus, demonstrates positive leadership, and inspires others to get involved.

Deanna Ames
Mathematics (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia)

• As Co-President of the Dalhousie/King’s Figure Skating Club (DKFSC), Deanna has been instrumental in the club’s remarkable growth over the past two and a half years.
• Under her leadership, DKFSC has expanded ice time, increased attendance, sent skaters to competitions for the first time, and hosted its inaugural showcase. She manages competition logistics, ensures smooth travel and accommodations, and fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for all members.
• Excels on the ice, achieving three consecutive personal best scores and multiple podium finishes this season. Deanna’s dedication and passion have transformed DKFSC into a thriving community.

Jayden Scott
Commerce (Calgary, Alberta)

• Jayden has made impactful contributions to the Dalhousie Football Club, Heart4Heart Dalhousie Chapter, and DalChain societies.
• As Head of Marketing for Dal Football, he expanded the marketing team, rebuilt the team’s website, and launched the Tackle Talks show.
• Jayden’s efforts grew the team’s social media presence to nearly 7 million views and helped the YouTube channel reach over 5,000 subscribers—making it the second most followed university sports program in the country.
• He also focused on increasing student engagement in sports through creative campaigns and community-building efforts, leaving a lasting mark on Dalhousie’s athletic culture.

Awarded to a varsity student athlete who demonstrates significant contributions to the community, has increased awareness at Dalhousie of a given charity or cause, demonstrates positive leadership, and inspires others to get involved.  

Luke Manara-Berryman
Psychology (Halifax, NS)

• Luke has demonstrated outstanding athletic leadership as a three-year captain of the Men's Soccer team, a 2nd Team AUS All-Star, and captain of the Halifax Wanderers U21 team in international competition.
• A dedicated scholar-athlete, he is a three-time Academic All-Canadian, a Dean’s List student, and maintains a 3.7 GPA while completing a Master’s in Sport Psychology.
• Deeply committed to community impact, Luke founded Tiger Community Kicks, created a soccer program for newcomers and African Nova Scotians, earned AUS and USPORT Community Service awards, and mentors youth through coaching and the Hear Me Roar initiative.

Awarded to a student who best demonstrates leadership in promoting and contributing to a healthy campus, and is a role model for health and wellness both in practice and by impacting others to lead a healthy lifestyle (demonstrated through peer-to-peer education, volunteering, service learning, global outreach, or any activity that enhances quality of life and development). 

Bianca Morelli
Arts & Social Sciences (Toronto, Ontario)

• As the DSU’s Vice-President Internal, Bianca supported 350+ student societies and advocated for student welfare.
• Led initiatives such as the Take Back the Night march and organized Mental Health Forums.
• Collaborated with NSPIRG to develop sensory kits and organized Wellness Week events to promote self-care.
• Bianca is a member of the High-Performance Leadership tier of the Student Leadership Academy.
• Revamped the Equity and Accessibility Office and organized Exam Wellness Study Sessions to support students.
• Contributed to reviewing the Sexualized Violence and Discrimination Policy to foster a safer campus environment.

Awarded to first-, second-, and third-year students who have demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment, leadership, creativity, and initiative to the Dalhousie Student Union, as well as the campus and community at large.  

Wateen Sadek
Neuroscience (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Wateen is a standout student at Dalhousie University, recognized for her leadership, dedication, and impactful contributions both on campus and in the community.
• As the inaugural DSU Presidential Commissioner, she has spearheaded initiatives such as the electronic waste bin project and the maternity wellness room, while also supporting first-year students as a Together@Dal mentor and O-Week leader.
• Beyond Dalhousie, Wateen volunteers at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, offering comfort to cancer and palliative care patients. She also contributes to research at the NeuroCognitive Imaging Lab, advocates for inclusivity as an EDI representative, and promotes sustainability through projects with Youth Climate International.
• Wateen is also a member of the Leadership in Practice tier of the Student Leadership Academy.

Emma Deveau
Civil Engineering (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• As co-president of the Dalhousie Women in Engineering Society (WiE), she has enhanced engagement, restructured WiE’s governance for sustainability, and built connections with groups such as the Women in Business Association.
• Her dedication to initiatives like the Go Eng Girl event, student leadership conferences, and the 2025 Canadian Engineering Competition showcases her commitment to empowering others. 
• Is a member of the High-Performance Tier of the Student Leadership Academy.
• Balancing a demanding engineering program and part-time work, Emma’s kindness, support, and leadership leave a lasting impact on her peers and the broader community.

Eve Wedderburn
Medical Sciences (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Eve is an exceptional leader and advocate for equity in STEM, serving in influential roles such as mentor with Imhotep’s Legacy Academy (ILA) and co-president of the Dalhousie Black Science Society (DBSS), where she supports Black youth and works to increase Black student representation in STEM.
• As the Black Student Representative for the DSU, Eve established an ad-hoc committee to strengthen collaboration between Black student societies and improve student governance.
• She also serves as Director of Outreach for the Dalhousie Science Scholars & Leaders Society (DSSLS), mentoring low-income, first-generation, and BIPOC students, while actively contributing to Dalhousie’s Black Mental Health Awareness Week Planning Committee.
• Eve’s community engagement extends beyond campus through her work with the YMCA’s Youth Advisory Committee and One North End (ONE), where she promotes environmental education and STEM accessibility—all while maintaining academic excellence with a 4.0+ GPA and Dean’s List standing.

Obinna Esomchukwu
Medicine (Enugu, Nigeria)

• Obinna has made a lasting impact on the DSU, on campus life, and with the broader community through a deep commitment to equity and inclusion in medical education.
• As a leader in the Dalhousie Medical Students’ Society and the Black Medical Student Association, he helped secure the President’s Award for Advancement of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
• Obinna’s Pulse of Possibilities project mentors racialized youth in rural Nova Scotia, inspiring them to pursue careers in medicine and expand representation in the field.
• His academic research on glaucoma surgery and Indigenous health equity demonstrates a strong dedication to improving access to care for underserved populations and dismantling barriers in healthcare.

Dalhousie Feminist Legal Association (DFLA)

• Has made a remarkable impact through its advocacy for gender equity and community engagement. This year, the DFLA organized the 2nd annual Women+ in Law networking event, uniting students and legal professionals with a focus on underrepresented voices.
• Hosted a fireside chat with the Dalhousie Black Law Students Association to address intersectionality in the legal profession.
• Their charitable efforts are notable, with over $2,000 donated to organizations such as Adsum House and the Elizabeth Fry Society, and an upcoming charity spin class benefiting Wellness Within.
• Hosted a talk on intimate partner violence in family law and engaged with the Law School’s administration to improve institutional support for survivors of gender-based violence.
• Their ongoing work includes hosting educational events and charity initiatives, positioning DFLA as a leading force in promoting equity, inclusion, and systemic change at Dalhousie University and beyond.

Awarded to a student who has made a significant contribution to improving awareness on sustainability issues at Dalhousie. This person's actions reflect their passion for the environment and inspire others to make positive change.

Ruby Swartz
Environment, Society and Sustainability and Political Science (Toronto, Ontario)

• Ruby has played a pivotal role in advancing sustainability initiatives at Dalhousie, dedicating four years to advocacy and leadership. From her work with Divest Dal and School Strike for Climate Halifax to leading in the DSU’s Office of Sustainability, she has driven student engagement, sustainable policies, and peer mentorship.
• She has facilitated public consultations, coordinated the DSUSO Green Gala, and developed programs encouraging critical reflection on consumption habits. As a member of the College of Sustainability and the President’s Advisory Council on Sustainability, she amplifies student voices on key issues.
• Her management of the DSUSO grant program has supported numerous student-led projects, solidifying her legacy as a leader in environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Ava Maleki
Medical Sciences (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Ava is a passionate and dedicated student activist whose contributions to social justice, humanitarian work, and inclusive leadership have made a significant impact at Dalhousie and beyond.
• As president of Dalhousie’s Friends of Doctors Without Borders, she raised over $4,000 for MSF and used social media to raise awareness about global health issues. She has been a key leader in promoting diversity in STEM, organizing events to highlight challenges faced by underrepresented groups.
• As Co-President of the Dalhousie Pre-Med Society, she provided invaluable support to pre-med students. Her advocacy includes creating mental health and resource guides, volunteering at healthcare centers, and supporting immigrants and refugees through ISANS.

Awarded to a society that demonstrated positive impacts on sustainability issues through raising awareness, programming, education, advocacy, and student engagement. Aspects of sustainability can include but are not limited to environmental, social, and/or economic impacts.

Dalhousie Campus Clean-Up Club

• The Dalhousie Campus Clean-up Club, founded in October 2024 by second-year students Connor MacDonald and Matt MacFarlane, was created in response to growing concerns about litter on Dalhousie’s campuses and its ecological impact on both the local community and wildlife.
• The club began hosting weekend clean-up sessions, collecting 36 liters of garbage and dedicating 59 hours to this important cause.
• With plans to expand their clean-up efforts to other Dalhousie campuses and coastal areas, the Dalhousie Campus Clean-up Club exemplifies hard work, innovation, and community spirit.

Awarded to an international student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, shown engagement in the community, inspired others, and is a respected voice for international students at Dalhousie.  

Noppadol Theerakul
Digital Innovation (Roi-Et, Thailand)

• Noppadol achieved a 4.27/4.30 GPA in the Master of Digital Innovation program and served as a Teaching Assistant, helping students understand e-commerce concepts and tools.
• Founded and served as President of the Dalhousie Digital Innovation Society, creating opportunities for students to explore digital innovation, collaborate, and network.
• Actively participates in Dalhousie’s Leadership in Practice program, developing leadership skills and fostering collaboration among peers through shared insights.
• Advocated for international students by addressing program completion issues with the Dalhousie International Centre and volunteered at multiple events, enhancing the sense of community for international students.

Awarded to a society that is relatively new or was revived after inactivity. This society has demonstrated positive impacts through their programming, education, student engagement and/or community building. This award also recognizes initiatives taken by a group of students to ensure the safety of the student body on and off campus.

Dalhousie Diabetes Awareness Society

• The Dalhousie Diabetes Awareness Society (DDAS) has made a significant impact through its commitment to raising awareness and educating the public about diabetes.
• DDAS has actively participated in events such as the Diabetes Canada’s Lace Up to End Diabetes Walk and organized a fundraising bake sale to promote diabetes awareness. The society is also planning a Research Mixer to connect Dalhousie students, faculty, and the broader public with experts in diabetes research.
• Despite being a new society, DDAS has demonstrated exceptional dedication to education, advocacy, and community involvement, positioning them for long-term influence.

Awarded to a student who has demonstrated excellence in generating an innovative idea, concept, or business. The student uses their leadership, vision, and focus to make their ideas come to fruition.  

Isaac William Raymond Bahler
Earth Science and Physics (Red Deer, Alberta)

• Isaac is a passionate and dedicated Earth Sciences student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, creativity, and initiative.
• He has led teams in prestigious international competitions, including the Mission Innovation SMART-CDR Competition, where his team was selected as a global finalist for developing an integrated sensor suite for marine Carbon Dioxide Removal, leading to an invitation to present at the 2025 CLIMIT SUMMIT in Norway. He also co-led a student team in the SGI Annual Grand Challenge on Sustainability, earning recognition as a top four finalist nationwide.
• Through these initiatives, Isaac has advanced climate science, elevated Dalhousie’s global reputation, and fostered interdisciplinary collaboration. His commitment to sustainability and innovation makes him a trailblazer in Earth Sciences

The Dalhousie Palestinian Student Society

• The Dalhousie Palestinian Student Society has made a profound impact through their advocacy for Palestinian rights and culture, organizing numerous demonstrations, cultural events, and fundraising initiatives.
• Became a crucial support network for Palestinian students on campus, offering a space for solidarity and safety.
• Through their tireless efforts, the Palestinian Student Society has mobilized support for justice and human rights, leaving an enduring legacy at Dalhousie.

Presented to a student employee who has demonstrated leadership and fostered community spirit in their work on campus. This student can be employed in any capacity on campus and, through their work, contributes to the Dalhousie student experience.  

Yuki Law
Earth Science and Physics (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

• Yuki has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and advocacy as a House Manager at the DSU.
• Over the past two years, she has improved the accessibility and functionality of the Student Union Building by addressing issues, proposing solutions, and streamlining operations.
• Advocated for EDIA initiatives and developed a software system to improve work processes, making a significant impact on the DSU.

Dalhousie Undergraduate Engineering Society (DUES) 

• The Dalhousie Undergraduate Engineering Society (DUES) has made a significant impact on the Sexton Campus community through its dedication to student engagement, professional development, and academic support.
• Organized social events such as theme nights and the Engineering Gala and supported students’ academic success through tutoring programs.
• Its commitment to advocacy and providing resources for future leaders makes it a deserving recipient of this Impact Award.

Awarded to Dalhousie Students to recognize an elite level of involvement and achievement in campus life over the course of their university career. These students have shown outstanding extracurricular contributions in the community.  

Alexandra MacNeil
Medicine (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• As President of the Dalhousie Science Society, Alexandra launched impactful initiatives such as the Peer Mentorship Program and Let’s Talk Science, reaching over 1000 youth through science education and outreach.
• In medical school, Alexandra continued her advocacy by serving as Curriculum Representative, organizing the Conference of Atlantic Medical Students, and promoting health education through the DalMed Everest initiative.
• Her research on chronic pain in medical students and her work supporting newcomer health further reflect her commitment to health advocacy and student success.

Ava Maleki
Medical Sciences (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Ava demonstrated exceptional leadership at Dalhousie, driving initiatives like the Research Mixer and Science Symposium, and fostering inclusivity within STEM through events such as the Women in STEM and BIPOC in STEM Panels.
• As President of Dalhousie Friends of Doctors Without Borders, she raised over $4,000 for international medical aid and organized student events, while also serving as a medical responder with the Dalhousie Medical Campus Response Team.
• Ava maintained a high GPA, contributed to cancer research, and supported fellow students through her role as a secretary and tutor at the Dal Writing Centre.

Elizabeth McGraw
Law, Justice, and Society and Economics (Centreville, Nova Scotia)

• As President of the Dalhousie Undergraduate Law Society, the Dalhousie All-Inclusive Women’s Network, and the Dalhousie Golden Key Chapter, she has organized impactful events, fostered inclusivity, and advocated for gender equity and social justice.
• She is also a member of the High-Performance Tier of the Student Leadership Academy and worked as the Student Leadership Academy Program Assistant.
• Her volunteer work with the Elizabeth Fry Society and Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic has provided vital support to marginalized individuals, while her leadership in the legal field includes establishing mentorship programs and championing gender equity in athletics.
• A Dean’s List student and recipient of numerous awards, including the Undergraduate Achievement Award, Elizabeth exemplifies a balance of academic excellence and meaningful community engagement.

Awarded by the DSU to the Councillor who has demonstrated a commitment to collaborative problem solving, active representation of their constituency, and initiative in the pursuit of innovation.

Eshan Arora
Medicine (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

• Eshan's commitment to leadership, advocacy, and inclusivity has had a profound impact on the Dalhousie community. As a Board of Governors Representative for the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU), Eshan has played a pivotal role in shaping university policies, advocating for students, and supporting systemic change, particularly in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA).
• His involvement in various DSU committees and initiatives, such as the Psycho-educational Assessment Ad-hoc Bursary Committee and the development of the DSU's updated Land Acknowledgment, showcases his dedication to creating a more inclusive and equitable campus.
• Eshan has also been instrumental in bridging representation gaps, fostering connections between Black senior administration and African Nova Scotian students, and advocating for marginalized groups. His leadership and unwavering commitment to student advocacy make him a well-deserving candidate for the Impact Award.

Awarded to a society that upholds social justice principles by its actions. With equitable practices, the society has demonstrated transformative impacts on the community on and/or off campus through raising awareness, programming, education, advocacy, student engagement and/or student action.

Dalhousie UNICEF Club

• Through advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement, the society has made a significant impact both on and off-campus. They actively raise awareness on global child rights issues through educational campaigns and collaborations with other student groups.
• Notable off-campus involvement includes volunteering at the annual Chefs for UNICEF Water for Life Gala in Halifax. With consistent dedication to the cause, the society has raised funds to support vulnerable children globally, while creating an inclusive space for students to get involved in meaningful work.
• Their unwavering commitment to making a difference, combined with their outreach efforts and inclusive approach, makes the UNICEF Society a deserving candidate for the Impact Award.

Awarded to the King’s student who is most highly engaged and takes on a leadership role at Dalhousie.  This is the sister award to the KSU Community Engagement Award for Dalhousie students at King’s which acknowledges the contribution of a Dalhousie student to the community at King’s College.

Eva Eusanio
Law, Justice and Society (Nanaimo, British Columbia)

• As a Student Educator at the University of King’s College, Eva led transformative sexual health education and sexualized violence prevention initiatives across both King’s and Dalhousie campuses.
• Known for her creativity and commitment, Eva developed engaging programming that fostered student connection, even amid post-COVID challenges to in-person engagement.
• Her leadership helped expand Waves of Change Bystander Intervention trainings at King’s and contributed to improving workshop accessibility and relevance.
• Nationally recognized by Courage to Act in 2024, Eva is a poised, driven, and impactful student leader whose work has left a legacy on campus.

Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing for each Dalhousie faculty. Part-time students are eligible for this award. These students exemplify the highest level of passion for their discipline, take initiative in creating new opportunities, and encourage their peers to engage in faculty initiatives. Faculty Leadership Impact Award recipients positively impact other students in their faculty and the reputation of their faculty at Dalhousie outside of the classroom.

Alexe Indigo
Agricultural Sciences (St. John's, Newfoundland)

• Alexe has been the driving force behind The Food Pantry at the Truro campus for two years, providing essential support to students experiencing food insecurity.
• Under her leadership, the Pantry has grown significantly, now serving over 100 students each month through low-barrier, confidential food access.
• Alexe manages all aspects of the Pantry’s operations—from sourcing and stocking supplies to collaborating with local organizations and raising awareness about food insecurity on campus.

Harichandana Valisakkagari
Master of Science (Agriculture) (Hyderabad, India)

• She led the organization of the 2024 Research Day at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, providing a platform for students and faculty to showcase their research and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Played a key role in organizing Dalhousie’s first-ever multicultural event, promoting inclusivity and cultural diversity among students.
• Spearheaded the Dal Grad PD Program in Truro, expanding professional development opportunities for graduate students on the Agricultural Campus.
• Maintained a GPA of 4.1/4.3 while pursuing an M.Sc. in Agriculture, publishing two peer-reviewed articles on sustainable cosmeceuticals from upcycled kale, and presenting at multiple national and international conferences.

Awarded to a student that has shown an elite level of consistent campus involvement over the course of their university career, and has made outstanding and impactful extracurricular contributions in the community either through student advocacy, academic justice, leadership, or other student involvement. Eshaa Amer
Neuroscience (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia)

• Eshaa founded and leads the only UN GirlUp Dalhousie society in Nova Scotia, advocating for gender equality and raising funds for a girls' school in Pakistan. She organized a panel on women’s impact at Dalhousie and highlighted issues faced by Indigenous women and two-spirit individuals.
• Eshaa supports underrepresented minorities in Science by creating inclusive graphics and mentoring students. She co-hosts the 'Breaking Conventions in Science' podcast and founded a mentorship program for minority students.
• She is a passionate advocate for mental health, fundraising for youth organizations, promoting resources on campus, and designing accessible mental health pamphlets for women in her hometown.
• Eshaa’s research focuses on Black women’s health and the mental health experiences of African Nova Scotians, aiming to improve healthcare for these communities. She’s determined to be the first in her family to complete formal education and help others overcome stigma in the South Asian community.
