Getting Ready for New to Dal AC Programming

Make sure you have everything you need to participate in New to Dal AC programming to its fullest this Sepetember!

1. Ensure you have set up your Dalhousie accounts and are checking your Dalhousie email regularly

Important information about New to Dal programming and your transition to Dal will come through your official Dalhousie email account, so it's important to set it up now and check it regularly.

Not sure how to set up your accounts? Check out the New Student Checklist to learn how! Please use your Dalhousie email account when registering for activities.

Check out our Reel on Instagram to learn how to customize your email address.

2. Check out your BrightSpace account

Brightspace is where you will access all your course information while a student at Dal. Information for your fall course will open on the first day of classes, Tuesday, September 3rd. Before classes start, be sure to check out our helpful New to Dal videos for all the details and info you will need before arriving on campus. Did we mention that you could win a prize!?

3. Check out the schedule and plan your New to Dal AC experience!

This is a busy and exciting time for new students! We encourage you to get involved in as many New to Dal events as possible. Along with all the important information you will gain and friends you will make, there will also be prize draws, with chances to win Dal gear, NS Stampede tickets, and so much more!

International students should complete the airport pick-up form once travel details are known, to arrange for free airport pick-up.

4. Download the Dal U App!

Be sure to download the Dal U App (coming soon!), and bring your phone with you when you attend events. We will be using QR codes and the Dal U app for students to check-in at New to Dal AC events. Each time you check-in for an event, you will be automatically entered to win exciting door prizes and earn points for prize entries!

5. Set up your Microsoft Teams account and download Microsoft Office

As a Dalhousie student you have free access to these resources. Login to your account by visiting my.dal.ca.

Click the App Launcher (it looks like a waffle) in the top left-hand corner to access Office 365 and download Teams and other Office programs.

Teams is a great way to connect with resources like Advisors prior to the start of the fall term.

Use your Dalhousie NetID and password to access your student account.

6. Join the Incoming Class group!

This is a great way to meet your classmates, stay up to date with New to Dal activities, and connect with upper year students.
