• JMEUCE Deputy Director's opinion piece: Should Canada get closer to the EU? as part of the ECSA-C scholars' responses to the idea of EU membership for Canada. 
• Roundtable on  Canada, the European Union and the Trump Challenge - watch the EVENT RECORDING, with Ross Hornby, former Canadian Ambassador to the European Union (joining virtually); Amelia Hadfield, Founder and Director of the Centre for Britain and Europe, & Associate Vice President for External Engagement, University of Surrey; Oliver Schmidtke, Director, Centre for Global Studies, & Professor, Departments of History and Political Science, University of Victoria.  5.30-7.00 p.m., Thursday 20th March. • Bright Night - Baltic-Nordic Short Films: Thurs. 6th Feb. 6.00 - c. 8.00 p.m.  Room 1014, Rowe Management Building, Dalhousie Unversity, 6100 University Avenue.  Free film festival with a great line-up of shorts from eight countries.  All welcome; refreshments provided. Presented in collaboration with the embassies of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. Please contact jmeuce@dal.ca with any questions.  
• Earn credit while studying in Europe on the EU Study Tour (11th - 29th May) with optional two-month Internship Programme (June-July). Partial funding available from JMEUCE -- application deadline: 9th December.  Details for 2025 and information on past tours can be found on the UVic Study Tour site.  Check out our flyer and contact jmeuce@dal.ca with any questions about applying.   Offered by the Canadian universities of the Network for European Studies (Canada) and the University of Victoria, this programme of guided visits provides a unique experiential learning opportunity for university students across Canada.

• In partnership with the Department of German and FASS, a public lecture on Breaking Cassandra's Curse: Crisis Prediction through Literature with Dr. Jürgen Wertheimer, Professor Emeritus of Modern German Literature and Comparative Literature, University of Tübingen. 6.30 p.m: Thurs. 17th Oct. Reception to follow. • Public Lecture from His Excellency Kaspars Ozoliņš, Ambassador of Latvia to Canada on Security Developments in Europe and Russia’s War against Ukraine with a pdf of his PRESENTATION SLIDES here. Thurs. 10th Oct.  Weldon Law Building.  Hosted in collaboration with CIC-Halifax.                                                            
• 2024 Summer Institute on Migration and Identity in Europe and Canada (3rd – 14th June).  Classroom sessions for this for-credit course (POLI 3820) took place at Dal and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, which provided an unparalleled learning experience through its exhibits, displays, artifacts and oral history clips.  Specialist instructors from both sides of the Atlantic included academics and curators with extensive knowledge of, and expertise in, the field. See the Summer Institute page for the detailed syllabus and resources including most presentations, or contact jmeuce@dal.ca.
• 2024 JMEUCE Student Essay Award: for current Dal students to submit a paper on any aspect of the EU, whether the European Union as a whole or one or more EU member states.  Deadline: 30th April.  Contact jmeuce@dal.ca for more details.
