PhD in Nursing student Maddie Gallant, RN BScN, is honoured, grateful and excited to receive a 2023 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Awarded to doctoral students at Canadian institutions who display academic excellence, research potential, and leadership, the Vanier grants recipients $50,000 per year over a three-year period.

In a world facing devastating climate-induced emergencies and international disasters, Dr. Haorui Wu, assistant professor in the School of Social Work (SSW), is devoted to the empowerment of crisis preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation across local, provincial, federal, and transnational levels.

Having been diagnosed with hearing loss at age four, Kendra Cove has been to the audiologist more times than she can count. Now, she’s in her third year of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorder’s Audiology program to help others just like herself.

This unique funding opportunity is directly aimed at Indigenous communities and organizations. Among its primary objectives is to support Indigenous communities to lead research according to their own health research priorities, generating solutions that support improvements to individual and community health and wellbeing, and advancing self-determination in research and research oversight.
